Title of course: 4 Hour Supported Scaffold User & Refresher Training

Course Description: This course is a specialized elective course that can help fulfill the requirement for an individual applying for a Site Safety Training Card. THIS IS AN AWARENESS-LEVEL TRAINING ONLY and does not provide any other qualification or authorization outside of the Site Safety Training Card.

Topics include but not limited to: Class will cover the following Site Safety Training (SST):

  • Relevant codes
  • Hazard prevention
  • Safe use of supported scaffolding

Pre-requisites: There are no pre-requisites for the course. Students must speak the language in which the course is given.

Objectives: Upon completion of this course, the students will be able to:

  • Compare roles and responsibilities of New York City Department of Buildings licensed site safety professionals

  • Understand different types of support scaffolds

  • Know common causes of scaffold accidents and methods of prevention

  • Understand general pricincipals of fall protection including personal protective equipment and fall arrest systems

  • Understand supported scaffold use including the safe use of tools, safety hazards & protection, fire and electrical material handling and overloading, and maximum intended load and load handling

  • Understand supported scaffold inspections of equipment and hardware

  • Understand Eeergency situations and preparedness procedures

  • Understand NYC Buildings unsafe condtion (311) notification procedure

  • Understand NYC DOI/Buildings integrity training contact information sheet

CEU’s: 0.4

Course Duration: 4 Hours of training (not including class breaks)

Course and attendance Policy: Students must earn a 70% or more in their final exam in order to successfully complete the training. Students are required to complete 100% of the course and actively participate in all learning activities.
